Livin’ On the Bad Side” is the debut album by CRIMSON STORM, released today through Fighter Records. CRIMSON STORM was originally formed in 2009 by guitarist and primary songwriter Lögan Heads in Sardinia, Italy, with the goal of reviving the glory of ‘80s heavy, power, and speed metal. Their name was inspired by Riot’s track “Sign of the Crimson Storm.”
Following several lineup changes Crimson Storm released some singles and EP’, and this 2025 it was time for a full length. The album features songs composed past year alongside reworked versions of earlier singles, delivering a mix of nostalgia, rebellious spirit, and the raw energy of ‘80s metal.
As fan of that decade, you’ll love “Livin’ On The Bad Side” cover art; that’s pure Eighties. Musically, you’ll love it even more: this is classic heavy metal, with speed but also melody, even some good, real, original power metal sound. Think a mix of Accept, late ’80s Riot, Loudness, Obsession… the later perhaps because lead singer Pau Correas brings to mind the great Michael Vescera.
“Livin’ On The Bad Side” is a sizzling example of the best and heaviest from 80’s U.S. metal transported to 2025 – short sharp metallic tunes to bang your head. Don’t wear your bullet belt near this one, it’s liable to ignite…

Indeed, what attracts the most from Crimson Storm is how combustible this album is, shying away from anything too syrupy or symphonic, instead launching riff after rampaging riff, blistering eardrums and causing concussion. The music is diamond hard, tight and dramatic and we love how abundant blazing solos stitch the album together along with the pummelling rhythm section that somehow manages to keep the tracks from tumbling into speed metal chaos.

The intro ‘Night Of The Tyrant’ starts with a short synth atmosphere, then a melodic guitar hook line can be heard. The whole thing ends with some synth gimmicks. The first regular song ‘Raging Eyes Of Darkness’ offers high-speed riffs, mercilessly driving drums and slightly raspy, sometimes pressed-sounding vocals. You can also hear melodic choruses and a fast guitar solo.
‘Outrageous’ starts with siren wails, which are replaced by fat guitar riffs. Once again, the musicians set a fast pace, whilst Pau Correa occasionally belts out some high Metal screams. In ‘Abuse Of Power’, the band goes one better. The double bass repeatedly ensures a very high tempo.

On the other hand, ‘Nightmare Deceiver’ can almost be seen as a breather. Very rhythmic with a few choruses, the song is more in the mid-tempo range almost hard rock. Towards the end there is a huge guitar solo. With ‘Speed Hammerin’ Metal’, the title is the concept; a crazy Speed Metal cracker with hammering drums, huge bass, shout vocals and the guitar solo is no less impressive.
‘Harakiri Rendez-Vous’ starts quietly. But that’s not what the band wants. Soon there is a high tempo to be heard here too. Guitarist Lögan Heads impresses once again with both his solo and the rhythm hook lines. The next Speed Metal banger follows with ‘Headfukker’, a metallic number. The final song ‘Seven Days Of Mayhem’ is also pure ’80-style Metal with an American feel.

Metal with speed often has the problem that it just blasts away. Crimson Storm, however, score points with their varied songwriting. Even though the songs have a high tempo throughout, there are always melodic passages to be heard. Pau Correas’ vocals are convincing, and Lögan shows off his guitar skills time and again during his solos.
With ‘Livin‘ On the Bad Side’ CRIMSON STORM succeeded bringing back that classy sound from yesteryear, that pure steel metal from the ’80s we miss so much. This is a very strong hard n’ heavy debut album and we’re eager to hear more from these guys.
