One of last albums from the American ‘LA Session’ ’80s/90s golden age, BILL MEYERS“The Color Of The Truth” has been reissued after many years out of print.
The ‘who’s who’ play here, from the late Jeff Porcaro (Toto), exquisite gutarist Michael Landau (Steve Perry, Richard Marx), Vinnie Colaiuta and Neil Stubenhaus to onetime Styx guitarist Glen Burtnik (who also co-write), “The Color Of The Truth” is one of these pristine records from an era which is unrepeatable.

Composer / arranger and mainly keyboardist, multi-faceted Bill Meyers has been involved into many platinum selling music for some of the most prolific artists of our time, ranging from pop to rock.
As happened with some musicians of this ilk during the ’80s, Meyers got the chance for a solo album, and for the occassion, he secured the cream of the LA Session to record here.
Three songs are co-written with talented Glen Burtnik, and one with Kevin Raleigh (Michael Stanley Band) who also provides backing vocals.

As you may expect, originally released in 1990, “The Color Of The Truth” is wonderfully recorded / produced album in the style of the era ranging from light AOR to Hi-tech, rock&pop and smooth West Coast.
Think a mix of Richard Marx, second half of the ’80s Rick Springfield, Burtnik solo albums, and David Foster. In fact, Meyers has a similar vocal color to Foster.

Among my favorites there’s the sweet midtempo ‘I’m Still Standing’, the smooth title track, the duet with Sally Dworsky on ‘Just Say The Word’, and the very Marx-esque ‘Halfway There’.
A really welcomed reissue for all fans of this genre.
