After the recent, really good new album by CAROUSEL VERTIGO featured here, one of you asked for the debut, self-titled EP from this great Classic Rock band. But there’s more, some juicy unreleased mixes of songs from their second album distributed via Fan Club only.

“Carousel Vertigo”, the EP, already showcased the talents of this America meets France band entering onto the Rock circuit with a rally of killer riffs, exuberant drumming and soulful classy vocals coming altogether to create a sound to crunch anyone’s senses into overload.
From the bluesy infused hard rock of the smoking ‘Get To You’ to the dancin’ ready boogie of ‘Bony Moronie’, this first offering by Carousel Vertigo rocks.

‘Three Wishes’ comes at you via early Aerosmith meets Nazareth on top form. Vincent Martinez has that voice where he can go smooth to powerful which works so well on this song. The band fires away in the rear, fully supporting the vocal groove going on.
‘Last Call For Love’ bounces in with an old-school Status Quo vibe, riffing guitars and sweet harmonies in one of the best songs on the EP. This track was later re-done for Carousel Vertigo’s first full length album.

‘Going Down’ turns more organic, bluesy and emotional into a Whitesnake haze circa 1980, while ‘Just Wanna Get Back’ has a more modern Classic Rock style in a Rival Sons kind of delivery, with stinging guitars all over.
Then you have tracks from Carousel Vertigo’s second album (great one, featured here), but served in different mixes.
I particularly liked the atmospheric, more bar-room mix of ‘I’m Your Man (in the air mix)’, the speed-up ‘Dog for a Bone (rock in the club mix)’ with its riff attack, and the incredible Gary Moore-like ‘Help Me Through The Day (hazy mix)’

Let’s be honest, true rock n’ roll will never die as long as bands like Carousel Vertigo keep the classic elements intact, and wasn’t it AC/DC who said “Let there be light, sound, drums, guitar. Let there be rock”?
Boy, were they right.
