STRAPPS – Strapps [Japanese CD Reissue] out of print

As requested, here’s one to delight old classic rock fans: British act STRAPPS 1976’s self-titled debut album co-produced by a then young Roger Glover in one of his first works into the studio working for others.
STRAPPS was founded by famous drummer Mick Underwood member of various bands like Episode Six (including Glover and Ian Gillan), Quatermass, and later collaborated with Gillan as part of his solo band at the end of the Seventies. Interestingly, Underwood was the person who proposed the candidacies of Glover and Gillan to the musicians of Deep Purple, and the rest is history.
For those of you who might wonder what MOTT might have sounded like if they had pounded out a whole album with a Hendrix-esque feel, “Strapps” might give you a clue. Not that every track is loud mind you; but the whole thing carries a very dark glam edge throughout. Add to that a dash of heavy funk and blues, and you have “Strapps”.
“Strapps” had decent sales – especially after supporting Purple in their UK tour – but the album surprisingly exploded in Japan, being re-printed several times and still a classic there.
