SWEET – Isolation Boulevard (2020)
SWEET’s new album, ”Isolation Boulevard”, recorded within the necessary constraints imposed by the Covid-19 global pandemic, plays on the title of the mid-70s album by the band’s classic line-up: ‘Desolation Boulevard’.
Sweet’s leader Andy Scott says: ”’The cover artwork tips a hat to Desolation Boulevard, 1975 and the band’s first Headline Tours in the USA. The comparison between the old and new is obvious as they are both a compilation of the best of Sweet’s recordings, satisfaction guaranteed.“
First of all: if you don’t like SWEET you better check out the band’s new line-up: on lead vocals there’s Paul Manzi (CATS IN SPACE), and Lee Small (LIONHEART, SHY) play bass and harmony vocals, and also does some lead.
Second: in the track list there’s a fresh re-recording of ”New York Groove”. I love this song, and believe me, this is the best version I have heard, even better than Frehley’s one. This track worth the album alone.
