German prog metal masters VANDEN PLAS will release “Live And Immortal” via Frontiers Music, a 2-CD pack which is a special addition to the storied catalog of the band.
Recorded December 30, 2016 in their hometown of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Vanden Plas put forth an epic performance in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The bulk of the setlist is based on the two “Chronicles Of The Immortals” albums (2013 and 2014, respectively) and additionally, includes tracks that have never been played live before, like the atmospheric “Scarlet Flower Fields” and “The Final Murder”, which reveals itself to be a captivating 11 minute monster.

About a year ago, German melodic progressive metal band VANDEN PLAS delivered to the music world part one of their concept album, “The Ghost Xperiment”. Now comes the dramatic conclusion of the story with their new album, “The Ghost Xperiment – Illumination”, to be released by Frontiers Music tomorrow.
Musically “The Ghost Xperiment: Illusion” sounds so much like its predecessor; this band is a precision built war machine that swaggers and bludgeons while being able to stop on a dime. Years ago, I heard people reference them as Germany’s version of Dream Theater, and while that’s not entirely accurate, I will concede that the level of musicianship blended with melodic metal on a bombastic, theatrical scale is certainly applicable.

To be released by Frontiers Music Oct. 11, “The Ghost Xperiment; Awakening” is the title of the new album from German progressive melodic metal combo VANDEN PLAS. This is the ninth studio release by the quintet, part one of a two-part concept project, with the second album to be released in 2020.
Despite of being a concept LP – which supposes a story to follow and sometimes intricate arrangements – this is not the case with “The Ghost Xperiment; Awakening”; this should be the band’s more commercial, melodic and even catchy album to date, and while these are pretty lengthy, each track can be enjoyed standalone.

“The Ghost Xperiment – Awakening” continues to underscore the high artistic level of musicianship and lyrical creativity that the band have sustained for so long, but as said – and I can see Frontiers’ direction here – this is an extremely catchy and melodious set of songs.
