SCANDAL CIRCUS – Mind Your Own Business (2015)

After a well received first album and sharing stages with the likes of Bullet and Electric Boys, Swedes SCANDAL CIRCUS are releasing today July 14th, their second effort “Mind Your Own Business“.
Scandal Circus musical mission is simple: rock your socks off.
Indeed, “Mind Your Own Business” is chock full of hot guitar riffs and some catchy choruses, all delivered with lots of energy and attitude. There’s a strong ’80s American influences, but a touch of Scandinavian swagger as well.
From the album title the guys put things clear: rebellious attitude also present on the lyrics and song titles like “You Can’t Change Me” or “A Big Fuck You”. But all is wrapped by a large sense of fun, as well as the melodic arrangements.
Or you have a song like “The Ballad Of The Hooker” (which is not a ballad at all) but a groovy midtempo with a dark atmosphere and a wall of dense and welcomed guitars.
Nope, there’s no place for ballads here, but all rawk ‘n roll. However, Scandal Circus’ sound is really, really clean.
More catchiness is found on the simple but effective “Scary Harry” (some Ugly Kid Joe on it), “All The Way To The Top”, and the contagious “Inspiration” which strangely – or not – I found similar to a Loverboy song yet with the riffage on steroids.
“Give A Little Time For Rock n’ Roll” is another fun, party-ready rocker where singer Johan Jonvèn – a traditional vocalist for this genre – sounds more ‘classic rock’ adding a different charm to the song.
Scandal Circus rocks good on “Mind Your Own Business”, with energetic hard rock songs inspired by the classic era but fueled by a modern sound. It’s all pretty melodic too, via catchy choruses.
This band is a pleasant surprise – again from Sweden – effective, party-ready Rock n’ Roll and with a strong sense of humor.
