CHARING CROSS – Pain & Gain (2015)
Swiss hard rockers CHARING CROSS are releasing today October 9 their third album “Pain & Gain“, but the band has a very long story with the beginnings already dating back to the late Eighties.
After breaks and line-up changes over the years, finally in 2009, the current line-up got together and started to record officially and touring (supporting Axxis and Bonfire in some gigs right now).
Charing Cross blends classic hard rock with some classic Euro metal, always melodious and with several melodic rock moments. The band sounds typically German / Swiss driven by strong guitar riffs plus a vocalist with a raspy register.
So expect some Gotthard, Pink Cream 69 or Victory influences both in songwriting & sound, but also the melodic hard rock sensibility of China or Shakra.
We have pulsating rockers in opener ‘Wake Up’, the anthemic ‘Let It Rock’ and the dirty ‘White Line Fever’, vwery well balanced by the really melodic ‘Queen Of The Night’ (pretty Swedish if you ask me), ‘Fucked Up Again…’ – which despite its title it’s a melodic rocker with hair metal feel even including cowbell – or the atmospheric ballad ‘Still Alive’ in the Gotthard vein.
Charing Cross sounds pretty impressive in “Pain & Gain”, especially in the overall performances and production.
A band to keep an eye on.
