MASTERPLAN – Keep Your Dream Alive (2015)

Melodic metal international combo MASTERPLAN will unleash their first-ever concert release on October 9 entitled “Keep Your Dream aLive“. The release will be available as DVD/CD and Blu-ray/CD sets, both including the entire show from Masters Of Rock festival, recordings from Wacken Open Air, footage from the band’s latest Asian tour and ProgPower USA, as well as all five official Masterplan video clips.

The Masters Of Rock show is featured on the CD, and it’s the matter of review here.
Joining German guitarist Roland Grapow (ex-Helloween) in Masterplan’s current lineup are drummer Martin “Marthus” Skaroupka (Cradle Of Filth), vocalist Rick Altzi (At Vance) who replaces Jorn Lande, and bassist Jari Kainulainen (Stratovarious, Devil’s Train).

You definitely will not miss Jorn here, as Rick Altzi sings his heart out on all songs. There is the sensation that he feels Masterplan as ‘his’ band, as the opposite with Jorn Lande who always saw the band as a side project.
Masterplan never got the opportunity to play much live due to this, and now with Altzi it’s a full-force band, and believe me, they seriously rock onstage.

“Keep Your Dream aLive” sounds kick ass, powerful and punchy with all the ‘live’ atmosphere but extremely polished and clean.
Masterplan is a top class melodic metal band and this release confirms this statement.
