At the very end of last year Sony Japan released “The Very Best of ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA Vol. 1 & 2” in a very limited pressing on the excellent Blu-Spec CD2 format, as you may know, Sony’s answer to SHM-CD.

There has been many ELO Greatest Hits releases all over the years but this “The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra Vol. 1 & 2” is without a doubt, the definitive.
The 2 disc-set presenting no less than 20 tracks each, not only delivers Electric Light Orchestra’s biggest hits such as “Mr. Blue Sky,” “Evil Woman,” “Don’t Bring Me Down,” “Sweet Talkin’ Woman,” “Turn to Stone,” “Hold On Tight,” “Livin’ Thing,” “Last Train To London,” “Strange Magic” and “Rock and Roll Is King”, but also not necessarily hits but essential tracks from their discography.

Indeed, on CD2 we have other key tracks as “Do Ya,” “Calling America,” “Twilight”, “Destination Unknown”, and the, inexplicably missing in previous compilations, ELO’s first American Top Ten single, “Can’t Get It Out of My Head”.

The sound quality of “The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra Vol. 1 & 2” Blu-spec CD2 is mind-blowing, crystal clear, exceptional I’d say.
