STRIKE TWICE – Strike Twice (Eonian Records)

Somebody asked for this album released some time ago, and not so easy to find now: STRIKE TWICE‘s self-titled disc. The songs featured here were recorded between 1985-1991, as Strike Twice was one of these bands that never made it big but deserved a better luck.

Strike Twice was created by vocalist Michael Hayes and guitarist Rob Luv, two guys with a love in their hearts and souls for hot-blooded hard rock.
Fate smiled kindly on them during the ’80s US glam metal / hard rock revolution as they packed out clubs everywhere they went. Their tight, sleazy-fueled hair metal sound was powerful and precise, their songs designed to deliver hook-heavy entertainment.

Musically, Strike Twice was like a mix of Poison and the very first Great White, some Slaughter in the melodies and, in the last period of the band, with a punch recalling Skid Row.

With ripping tunes like “Tango”, the killer “D.F.W.M.” (yeah, it means Don’t F@ck With Me), the power ballad “Wake Up Crying” (great one), the MTV-ready “Never Let Go” or the pumping “Undress Me”, Strike Twice proves beyond any doubt that they possessed that indefinable hard rock magic that is still as relevant today, as it was in the late ’80s / early ’90s.

Strike Twice are the type of band that makes you remember why you love ’80s US / Californian Hard Rock. They really should have been signed and promoted because their music was above the bar of regular indie bands.
I guess due to be based on the East Coast (Long Island, NY) and with the over-crowded scene back in the day, these guys were simply brushed by the wayside.
