NELSON – After The Rain [HDtracks.com Remastered 2017]

A must have in your Melodic Rock collection, NELSON‘s debut album “After The Rain” has been remastered last year released by specialists HDTracks.com.
A commercial success on Billboard spending 64 weeks on the charts containing the #1 hit ‘(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection’, the album was certified double platinum.

At the end of the ’80s, brothers Matthew and Gunnar Nelson decided to approach Geffen Records presenting new songs to them for almost a year. Expert A&R executive John Kalodner, after listening an acoustic version of ‘(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection’ signed the brothers a deal with DGC / Universal.

As they prepared to record, Matthew and Gunnar started assembling a band. They settled on drummer Bobby Rock (ex Vinnie Vincent Invasion), Joey Cathcart (Peter Beckett), keyboardist & orchestrator Paul Mirkovich (Cher, Whitesnake) and awesome Aussie guitar virtuoso Brett Garsed, still unknown in America but who was part of superstar John Farnham band.
Most of the songs were co-written with Marc Tanner, who also produced the album.

Released in 1990, “After The Rain” boasted a glossy, ’80s-sounding blend of corporate rock and arena rock, and it was an immediate international MTV sensation scoring the number one hit ‘Can’t Live Without Your Love & Affection’ and a string of other successful singles.
For all melodic rock – and many hard rock / metal fans, though few would admit it – the catchy choruses, the melodic lead guitar work, slick arrangements and trademark harmony lead vocals were completely irresistible.

‘More Than Ever’, ‘Everywhere I Go’, the great ballad ‘Only Time Will Tell’ or the awesome title track are a wet dream for every melodic rocker.
A guilty pleasure for headbangers, and a classic from an era for all rock aficionados, “After The Rain” is a must have. This remaster is warm, with harmonics akin a vinyl LP dynamic range avoiding sound brickwall.
