TEMPLE BALLS – Untamed (2019)

Produced by Jona Tee (H.E.A.T), “Untamed” is the second album from TEMPLE BALLS, an energetic melodic hard rock act from Finland. While the guys already toured central Europe & Japan and shared stages with Deep Purple and Uriah Heep to name some, they still aren’t well known world wide.
After listening to “Untamed” this is about to change soon.

Temple Ball’s songwriting / sound is clearly inspired by 80s American style, however with that modern Scandinavian production punch.
In the time-tested tradition of everyone from Aerosmith to Van Halen to H.E.A.T, it is the driving, hard hitting drum beats, the massive wall of bass, and the melodic guitar licks that lay the foundation for the band’s brazen classic hard rock sound.

The band easily could be tagged as ‘melodic’ hard rock, however the melodies come from the infectious groove.
Songs such as the anthemic ‘Kill The Voice’ (do you miss early H.E.A.T?), the kicking ‘Infinity’, the soaring ‘Distorted Emotions’ or the truly Americanized ‘Ball And Chain’ are to die for.
I hear some Keel omn ‘Leap Of Faith’, while ‘Seven Seas Of Wonder’ is not far from the new Kissin’ Dynamite.

Rich in groovin’ riffs, hooks galore and a strong vocalist’s uniquely tinted yet classic singing style, Temple Balls’ “Untamed” rocks like Hell.
The band has a clear American hard rock influence but their sound is typically European.

What I really enjoyed about Temple Ball’s new effort is the punchy and driving rocking production, something that seems to be diluted form the Scandinavian bands lately.
