With the very good new EDGE OF FOREVER album appeared yesterday after many years absent from the scene, one of you asked for the band’s debut album “Feeding The Fire“. Here’s the hard to find Japanese Edition, much better sounding imho.
Featuring the great Jeff Scott Soto on harmony vocals (much more than just ‘backing’) and a duet, a then young Alessandro Del Vecchio, AXE singer Bob Harris and future Hardline / Jorn drummer Francesco Jovino, Edge Of Forever was formed in 2002 with a vision of creating as good music as their idols did in the Eighties.

Originally released in 2004, “Feeding The Fire” included a young Alessandro Del Vecchio still not trained a lead vocalist, nor producer, so the album was produced by the late Marcel Jacob, who at the time was together with Jeff Soto Scott in Talisman.
While there’s a certain Talisman feel of some songs here, overall “Feeding The Fire” is ’80s melodic hard rock oriented with heavy AOR splashes and even a neo-classical touch into one song.

Jacob does a great job as far as the production is concerned, his choices leaves room for every member to highlight everybody’s excellent work. The rhythm section is solid and powerful and the guitars & keyboards create exemplary solos, while Harris’s evergreen voice perfectly fits the grand and solemn melodies featured by each track.

It’s no mystery these guys are strongly influenced by Eighties acts and “Feeding The Fire” is here to witness their love and devotion to the classics. Take a listen to the “Mother Of Darkness” keyboards intro or to “The Gates Of Hell” and you’ll be immediately brought back to that decade.
The album starts with the title-track “Feeding The Fire”, a fast AOR / melodic rock energetic tune with a catchy chorus and busy instrumentation.

“Prisoner” hosts a duet between Jeff Scott Soto and Bob Harris and it’s one of the highlights of the album together with the power ballad “The Road We Walked On”, enriched by Harris’s felt vocals and Del Vecchio’s emotional ivory work.

Not a single thing is out of place around “Feeding The Fire”: these 5 talented musicians gave birth to a release that will easily conquer a huge number of listeners with its combination of strong melodious riffs and passionate vocals.
This Edge Of Forever debut passed quite unnoticed when originally released, now here’s your chance to discover a very good record.
