ROCK CITY ANGELS - Young Man's Blues [Remastered] RARE full

As requested, here’s the hard to find (over € 100 for a used copy) of ROCK CITY ANGELS‘ “Young Man’s Blues” only remastered version by Gott Discs. Originally appeared in 1988 on major label Geffen, this was the very few times that a debut band got a double album released – yeah there were 2xLP.
Often compared to Guns N’ Roses for marketing purposes, in fact these guys were much more bluesy hard rock oriented, clean and melodic. Think Aerosmith meets Bad Co. and The Faces.
There’s plenty of excellent rocking boogie on the fast-paced tunes like “Hard to Hold”, “Our Little Secret”, and “Hush Child”. And the gritty, under-your-skin funkiness of “Beyond Babylon” and “Rough ‘n’ Tumble” makes those songs standouts on the same level as ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’.

The band that almost ‘was’ if Geffen properly promoted the album, ROCK CITY ANGELS were on the road to stardom – they had the songs, the looks, the sound and the attitude to go with it, but by the time the got finished the recording of this album problems arise.
Geffen Records hired renowned producer Jim Dickinson (Rolling Stones, Big Star, The Replacements) to engineer / mix the album. But after hearing the initial mix the label passed on the tracks due to them being too soulful and not at all what was happening on the Sunset Strip at the time, and fired Dickinson, much to the distaste of the band.

Joe Hardy (Alice Cooper, ZZ Top) was brought in, and the band re-recorded most of the songs, plus a few more, for what you would come to know as this 1988 2xLP ‘Young Man’s Blues’, now fitting a single CD.
“Young Man’s Blues” was a commercial failure due to the nonexistent promotion the label exhibited. Geffen was much more interested in another LA based band that they had just signed called Guns ‘N Roses, and therefore, Rock City Angels were left to twist in the wind, and were eventually dropped by the label.

Any fan of Aerosmith, Hanoi Rocks, Faces, well, even Guns N’ Roses (they are influenced by these bands as well) will dig this CD.
We love this album, and this remaster sounds fabulous.
