LOUDGUNS – Broken Highway [LTD Reissue 300 CD] (2016)

Requested, here’s “Broken Highway“, the debut album from Finnish melodic rockers LOUDGUNS in its re-released Limited Edition collector’s edition featuring revised artwork, strictly limited to 300 numbered copies, already out of print.
Originally released by themselves when Loudguns were still an unsigned act, “Broken Highway” went out of print pretty soon. Due their fan base request, the guys decided together with their record label City Of Lights to put out this special edition of their debut CD available at selected stores.

With a typical Scandinavian melodic rock sound akin country-fellows Free Spirit or Brother Firetibe but also Swedes H.E.A.T, Grand Design, etc, this Loudguns’ debut showcases a young but mature bunch of musicians who obviously known what this genre is all about.

‘Jenny’s on the Run’, the catchy ‘Let your Fire Burn’, the Americanized ‘Hit ‘n’ Run’, the atmospheric and highly melodious ‘Broken Highway’ (one of my favorites), the AORish ‘Dreams on the Line’ (plenty of keyboards) and the more edgy ‘Distant Dreams’ are among the strongest tracks of this solid debut.

Refined songwriting, classy vocals, clean guitar riffs & solos, ‘that’ keyboards (nicely arranged) and a punchy rhythm section makes this CD a lovable trip back to the ’80s.
A collectors item now, if you see this disc on sale as ‘new’, be aware that’s a bootleg.
