SHOTGUN MISTRESS – Shotgun Mistress (2021)
Melbourne based hard rockers SHOTGUN MISTRESS are ready to release their self-titled debut album. This quartet of experienced rock tune craftsmen is riding high on the success of their standalone singles, including ‘Save Me from Myself’, which bulleted to No.1 on the iTunes Australian Rock Charts and smashed into the Top 40 chart, and the kicking ‘Glorious Machine’, which left charts smouldering in its wake for weeks on end.
These songs are the perfect example of SHOTGUN MISTRESS style combining stupefying guitar riff grenades, a combustible rhythm section and whiskey-soaked vocals wrapped in a melodic maelstrom that is as hard to define as it is difficult to ignore.
Shotgun Mistress was formed by guitarist Matt Wilcock (The Berzerker, Akercocke, Abramelin), internationally known for these more extreme metal type of bands. But something happened when he hooked up with “Diamond” David Lee on drums to jam out some L.A. Sunset Strip-era classics.
Yeah, both loved bands like Guns N’ Roses, LA Guns, Motley Crue, and from Europe, D-A-D.
Ben Curnow (Earth) joined on bass along with vocalist Glenn Patrick (of Collegians, featuring members of Pseudo Echo and Invertigo), and the result is this high-octane 13-song CD with influences from the aforementioned acts and more.
