HERE

New York City rockers STREETLIGHT CIRCUS has been making some noise in the underground scene with some indie releases, consistent touring in the United States and overseas, invites to major American rock festivals, and bills shared with countless venerated artists, Streetlight Circus has become a name synonymous with the new wave of hard rock.
The upcoming Streetlight Circus new album, ”Super Fine Sugar” – released via Escape Music – represents a huge leap forward for the hard-hitting quartet. The songs were mixed and mastered by Grammy-winning producer and engineer Bob St. John. Guest appearances are made by Berton Averre (The Knack), Tony Harnell (ex TNT), Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow (The Posies), Brian Forsythe (Kix), and Jesper and Jacob Binzer (D-A-D).

”Super Fine Sugar” is an intoxicating mix of ’70s / ’80s classic hard rock influenced by bands like early Cheap Trick, KiSS, New York Dolls, Ace Frehley fist solo album, etc. This band knows their roots from inside out, adding their own touch with a modern updated production.
They are fronted by lead singer/songwriter David Shaw who has a voice that is reminiscent of Brad Sinsel of T.K.O – it’s perfect for this kind of music.

Mixed by Bob St.John, expect a really neat sound here – this rock and roll ladies and gentlemen, performed by 4 musicians that sounds like they are playing in front of you with a polished, melodic production.
From the beginning, opener and title track puts you in a feel-good mood and makes you want to move your body with hands in the air, with its KISS-like riffs and easy chorus. Next, ‘Drive It Like I Stole It’ features Berton Averre of The Knack for a pop-rock, early ’80s radio-ready tune.

‘Cherry Cola’ is one of the most catchy, contagious rockers you’ll hear this year. This is one of the two songs featuring Jon Auer of The Posies, and an album highlight. ‘Pay My Rent’ is a lovely bluesy midpaced tune with a British Seventies flavor.
Then the always fine Tony Harnell provides his melodic pipes for a duet in ‘Dirty Earth’, a rocker driven by a huge guitar riff (also a bright solo) and where both lead vocalists create a great tandem.

It’s really cool to hear Kix’s axeman Brian Forsythe for ‘Trouble’, of course a riff-driven tune with 3 guitarists into the mix – for a great rocker which seems taken from Frehley’s 1978 solo LP. The band ends the album with ‘Rattle the Cage’, a fun rockers with tongue-in-cheek funny lyrics and musically like a mix of Michael Monroe & KiSS

Streetlight Circus really knows how to make you have a good time, a good rock n’ roll time. We find 12 tracks on ”Super Fine Sugar”, and all are good.
Back in the day there was ‘something unique’ in the rock bands coming from New York – well, Streetlight Circus takes me back to that sound. A kick ass classic (hard) rock band.
