SUPER VINTAGE – Guardians Of Tradition (2022)
”Guardians Of Tradition” is the new album from bluesy hard rockers SUPER VINTAGE, and if the band’s name isn’t enough to get what these guys are all about, just check out the album’s title: this is pure traditional, riff-driven traditional classic rock / hard rock with the blues mojo.
We find here 11 authentic songs that land timeless, inspired by the greats but with an own identity. Diggin’ deeper into their Southern Rock musical roots with serious depth & inspiration, Super Vintage are bonafide hard rockers who have produced one of their strongest discs to date in the form of “Guardians Of Tradition” which is their “musical homage” and dedication to their heroes and to all the good “Rock N’ Roll Saviors” worldwide who believe in real music.
Band founder guitarist / singer / producer / composer Stavros Papadopoulos is a bad-ass, modern day heavy guitar rocker with a legit “old-school” retro-70s vibe who was born to rock with the riffage that matters.
The new songs on “Guardians Of Tradition” are a bit more blues-infused than on previous Super Vintage records. And as Stavros has a perfect voice for this genre with no real accent to be detected, if you would have said to me that these guys come from Florida instead of Kavala in Greece I most likely would have believed you.
“Guardians Of Tradition” has at times a melancholic typical southern rock character with lots of ballsy guitars and a rhythm section that purely plays to serve the guitar players.
Add to that that Stavros has managed to pen down a bunch of strong songs as well and you are listening to a guitar dominated quite pure and entertaining hard / southern rock album that we do not get to hear that often these days.
Songs like ‘Rolling Thunder’, ‘Rise And Fall’, ‘Hero’, ‘Pieces Of My Broken Heart’, the title track, are all quite traditional and certainly not too complicated to follow, but they are played from the heart and soul of a man that has become one of the most reliable and active rock merchants that Europe has to offer.
If you cherish classic rock / hard / southern rock, ”Guardians Of Tradition” is at the moment one of the best records in that genre.
Super Vintage’s “Guardians Of Tradition” is an outstanding guitar-rock musical document that is highly recommended to fans of all classic rock from the Seventies & Eighties based on blues and timeless melodies.
