One of the many facets of Phil Vincent, this one with brothers Damian & B.F. D’Ercole, are releasing “Mass Formation“, album number 9 from their band D’ERCOLE, as always with talented Brit Vince O’Regan providing lead guitars. The outfit solidifies their place in the melodic hard rock community with heavy opener “Trial By Fire” paving the way for the melodic onslaught that’s about to come.
“Fighting to Survive” crunches its way into metal territory backed by a hard rock groove, the epic track Synergy (Parts I & II) shows the light and dark of the band to great effect, while closing opus “The Broken Heart” mixes progressive, melodic rock, and metal to sheer delight.
Mastered by famed multi-talent producer and mix engineer Jacob Hansen in Denmark, “Mass Formation” showcases D’ERCOLE evolving both in songwriting and sound-style.

‘Trial By Fire” and ”Make It Alone” both rock with a classic hard edge and an early Nineties feel, with big choruses and solos. We find a fine midpaced melodic rocker ‘Real Life’, the closest to a ballad on the album. On the other hand, on the aforementioned ”Synergy”, “The Broken Heart”, and ‘No Place Left To Hide’ D’Ercole explore more complex territory with interesting arrangements, never losing the rockin’ approach.

“Mass Formation” is ‘mature’ D’Ercole, showcasing the band’s classic hard rock but also more progressive numbers. Mature doesn’t means boring, on the contrary, the band expand their sound here and easily this is the band’s most complete album to date.
