Unfortunately, there are some bands like Twisted Sister that think that their fans do not want any more new music. Luckily, that narrow minded view is not shared by many ’80s and early ’90s era hair metal and sleazy rock bands including BABYLON A.D. who have come up with a fantastic new studio album “Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day“, to be released by Perris Records.
While father time has not been kind to certain singers over the years, Babylon A.D. leader & lead vocalist Derek Davis seems to have retained or kept his vocal pipes in fine shape over the years as he delivers on this new CD as if it was 1989 rather than 2024.
Babylon A.D. is one of the most versatile hard rock acts apperared in the late Eighties, and continue creating authentic rockin’ music to this day – in fact, “Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day” is truly one of the highlights from the genre in 2024 so far.

It’s been 6 years since BABYLON A.D. last studio album. The band had over 20 songs to choose from and picked what they think are the best 11 tracks to represent the band’s current sound and direction. John Mathews and Ron Freschi really stepped up dro here some awesome guitar riffs. New members Dylan Soto on drums and Craig Pepe on bass added a little extra to the band because they also write music.
Songs like the opening adrenaline rushed driving track, “Wrecking Machine”, the slow burn metal rocker “Pain”, and the atmospheric “Crashed Into The Sun”, really capture BABYLON A.D.’s diversity and musical tastes.

While songs like “Face Of GOD”, “I Will Never Break Again” and “Sometimes Love Is Hell” are all midtempo melodic and ballad-type songs, all are done with clever arrangements and really have some interesting story telling for the listener.
And of course we have some big catchy choruses the band is known for like the title track “Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day”, “White Hot Bullet and a real melodic hooky tune called “Looking For A Heartbeat”. The band also put together a ripping instrumental called “Super Beast” featuring some fantastic lead playing by Ron and John.

You know what they say’ “Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day”, and that’s why the title of the album: BABYLON A.D. took a few years to record this new CD but well worth the wait. The record was mastered by Grammy award winner David Donnelly ‘DNA Mastering’ (Motley Crue, Chicago”, Aerosmith) and really sound fantastic, energetix, melodic rockin’.
