WHALEDOG – Whaledog (2024) *HQ*
Coming out of nowhere arrives this very good self-titled debut album from Swedish unit WHALEDOG. Formed three years ago in Stockholm, the band’s music has bluesy classic hard rock influences from 70s and the ’80s. All members have been a part of the Swedish music scene since the Eighties, and you can tell listening the 10 tracks on “Whaledog“.
While the 5-piece band name may sound weird, not their music for sure: this is a polished, very well recorded & produced slab of classy hard rock, with clean vocals, melodic guitars, lovely Hammond organ and cool choruses. Think late ’80s Bad Company, Snakes in Paradise, The Firm, etc.
A welcomed surprise – don’t miss this impressive record from WHALEDOG, one of the best debuts of the year.
