SABIRE - Jatt (2024) *HQ* - full
HERE

Australian rock outfit SABÏRE began at the tail end of 2010 as an idea to have a band that played simply what came naturally on guitar to founder Scarlett Monastyrski with no set musical genre or category. Shortly thereafter, the concept grew to accompany that with a distinctive sound production.
On their new album “Jätt” Sabïre play largely traditional heavy metal that also has a hard rock / glam-ish vibe at times. The lyrics are a bit cliché and very ’80s fun style – I found myself smiling more than once thinking of old ’80s videos of bands singing about girls and the likes while listening to this.
Scarlett’s vocals will instantly stick to your brain like a tick on steroids, very melodic and recorded with a ‘big gate reverb’ and often leaving the accompanying music in the dust. Speaking of which, the music itself is very catchy and rocking, even kind of “dance-inducing” at times, with a very infectious beat.

Overall, the songs are rather “commercial” (though not ‘that’ cheap commercial), with some exceptions like “Rip, Rip, KILL!!!” which, while catchy and fun in its own right, tears things apart quite a bit more than the other tracks.
The album is kind of on the long side. While I won’t say that there are any bad songs here, something too much of a good thing is just too much. The album leaves a weird feeling in that sense, like “this is still on?” maybe 50-55 minutes in, but then once it’s finally over, it’s “oh? It’s over already?”
Basically, it’s a good thing that they still managed to fill these 70 minutes with strong songs, even though as a whole the album may have benefited from being a little shorter. That’s definitely subjective…

Nice to hear something that sounds different with Sabïre.
If you dig catchy, melodic, energetic old-fashioned metal and don’t mind the occasional “glamish” lyrical clichés, ”Jätt” is absolutely worth checking out.
