CINDERELLA – Long Cold Winter SESSION [featuring Cozy Powell] HQ *Exclusive*
Masterminded by vocalist, guitarist & songwriter Tom Keifer since the early Eighties, CINDERELLA hit record stores and MTV in 1986 with their debut album, joining a crowded crop of hair metal hitmakers that included Bon Jovi, Poison, Europe, Stryper, Winger, Mötley Crüe and more.
At first blush, CINDERELLA also appeared to be as glammy as the other bands that looked just like them. Keifer had more depth than that, though, and when it came time to write Cinderella’s second album, “Long Cold Winter”, he hoped to avoid the sophomore slump by taking stock of his surroundings and writing songs from the perspective of a young man uncertain of where he was at any given point or who was around him.
One member of the band absent from the recordings was drummer Fred Coury, replaced on “Long Cold Winter” by legend Cozy Powell, Denny Carmassi (Heart, Montrose), and Joseph Starns.
“Long Cold Winter SESSION” is a greatly done bootleg (well printed ans presented) featuring the first rehearsals / sessions of Cozy with the songs. The audio was taken from Cozy’s own tape handwritten “Tom’s Tape” on the index sheet.
Here’s all the songs that ended into “Long Cold Winter” but in its genesis, pretty different than the final versions. Some vocal guides by Keifer are present, however the session is mostly instrumental. Sound quality is very good.
While “Long Cold Winter SESSION” should be more for die-hard fans, it’s a very interesting listen about how these great songs were created, and a must for collectors.
