IN AND OUT – In And Out (1992)

IN AND OUT - In And Out (1992) *HQ* - full
HERE

A couple days ago we featured the 1990 debut album by Canadians IN AND OUT, a very cool collection of songs in a lite AOR, rock&pop, even some Hi-Tech style. As requested, here’s the band sophomore effort, titled as the band, 1992’s “In And Out“.
After that first album, IN AND OUT experienced some changes. Still with founding members vocalist Steve Gardiner (who also wrote all the songs), Marc “Houston” Lalonde (keyboards, backing vocals), and long time drummer Mike Seguin, the group not only replaced the guitarist & bass player, but also changed their musical orientation.
Since the album’s cover art you can see a ‘street level’ image. And indeed Gardiner was looking for a much more rocking approach, commercial radio friendly melodic rock along the same lines as Honeymoon Suite, Damn Yankees, late Eighties Tesla, etc.

Keyboardist Marc Lalonde is the brother of Gary Lalonde (Honeymoon Suite’s bassist) and he contacted the band with their producer Tom Treumuth, owner of Hypnotic Records. Treumuth made a distribution deal with major label A&M for this IN AND OUT second album.
Treumuth, an expert who previously produced Helix’s Walkin’ The Razor’s Edge, Honeymoon Suite’s first albums, Autograph’s That’s The Stuff, and many other hit LPs, provided to “In And Out” the necessary sheen to make IN AND OUT sound fantastic.
While there’s some very good songs here, namely ‘Counting on You’, ‘Enough Love’, ‘Turn to You’, ‘I Run Away’, and ‘Shanghai’, in 1992 time was running out for this type of polished melodic rock. IN AND OUT didn’t last longer, but this last album is a very fine chunk of quality late ’80s / early ’90s melodic rock from the Canadian scene.
