SCORPION CHILD – I Saw The End As It Passed Right Through Me (2025) *HQ*
We were truly impressed by SCORPION CHILD’s previous albums – modern age Classic Rock little masterpieces – simply put, this is one of the top bands bringing a new blood to this timeless genre. So when the press release arrived announcing a new album out of the box today, we knew we had to check out “I Saw The End As It Passed Right Through Me” immediately.
And after nine years since their last LP, SCORPION CHILD is coming back stronger than ever with their third studio album produced by themselves, an intense, imaginative collection of fresh songs to die for.
For lovers of that 1970s-1980s classic rock / hard rock with some haunting bluesy feeling thrown in for good measure, “I Saw The End As It Passed Right Through Me” will get you hooked from start to finish with its captivating vibe. And the good news are that SCORPION CHILD is also trying new things musically.
“Be the Snake” is the perfect blistering start, a track full of crunchy riffs and thundering drumbeats.
On a track like “Outliers” you can hear SCORPION CHILD’s new musical exploration, a rocker, yet with a darker sound that unites heavy rock along with some of the ‘80s best Gothic style. It is a really cool combination that brings to mind The Mission UK joined up with heavier bands like 1985’s The Cult. With that said, the songs presented on ”I Saw the End as It Passed Right Through Me” are authentic, passionate, and far from a derivative of the past.
It is safe to say you are in for something special with Scorpion Child’s resurrection. Altogether, the album has an absolutely fantastic tone in terms of the vocals delivered by Aryn Jonathan Black matched with the twin guitars by Asa Savage (rhythm) & Adrian Arostone (lead), which are thick with grooves, haunting, and melodic at the same time.
Eight tracks in all, some absolutely outstanding moments have to include “See The Shine,” “The Starker” matched with a perfect bassline, and “Godskin” with a dazzling mix of different elements.
Overall, it seems like Scorpion Child was hell-bent on creating a collection of perfectly intriguing and epic songs, all in the same breath. It sounds fresh and inspired and, hopefully, will be the spark that ignites a new flame of interest in the band after so many years.
