TRANCE – Break Out ’82 (Remaster 2024 + bonus tracks) [2025] *HQ*

Criminally underrated when we speak about pioneer European classic heavy metal / hard rock acts, Germans TRANCE haven been there since the late Seventies carrying the traditional sound from the genre until this very day, with their last album released 2021. The four-piece from Edenkoben formed in 1979, and it’s one of the long-lasting bands from the scene.
Long time out of print, early TRANCE records fortunately have been reissued (in 2023 we featured here their 2nd ‘Power Infusion’), now it’s time for the group’s debut LP, 1982’s “Break Out“, remastered and including as bonus tracks TRANCE’s very first 7” two-sided single from 1981 (a little gem from the era).
Old-school metal fans with a traditional sound for the genre will love “Break Out”. It’s that ‘analog sound’ you simply can’t replicate. Can’t get enough of mid-period Scorpions?!? Well, step right up!

For a debut album on a small record label, “Break Out” is a really good – production is crisp and clean, especially for an indie ’82 release – it’s decidedly above average. That’s benefits the fresh remastering preserving the original sound.
Musically, “Break Out” is very early ’80: simple and melodic songs with the metal sound of the time, but also plenty of midtempo hard rockers The opening title track, along with ‘Loser’, ‘Higher’ and ‘Burn the Ice’ are the top picks, but you know, the whole LP is very enjoyable – it’s an album from a time when records were about 40 minutes, just 10 tracks was all we needed.
Bonus tracks are little gems, a lost 7” single showcasing a rawer, early state of TRANCE.
