Do you wanna hear something refreshing? Just push play on the new THE STATESBORO REVUE album, their self-titled “Statesboro Revue“. This Austin, TX based band have been around for almost two decades, releasing a few albums but the last one dates from 2015, and since then they concentrated in standalone singles.
Now THE STATESBORO REVUE needed to express their music into a complete album, and glad they did. This is a wonderful band. There’s been a lot of buzz on this ‘comeback’ record, and it’s well deserved. As it turns out, “Statesboro Revue” covers a lot of ground, working that acoustic feel in with electric licks, organ, harmonica and even a bit of steel.
Yeah, THE STATESBORO REVUE brings to mind those classic American bands of yesteryear. This album delivers the Texas sound that they flex with rock ‘n roll, Southern rock, soul, Americana, funk, roots blues, country, and more, depending on the song they’re performing. There’s a twang all over these songs but with a rock groove foundation.
This band has the feeling, roots rock sound and attitude in their music that many bands before them have strived to achieve.

Reminiscent of singers from decades past, Stewart Mann’s soulful voice is both evident and familiar. His seasoned timbre is well-worn, but polished and soulful. Joining is younger brother Garrett Mann, the lead guitar player who holds down the fort then lets loose when the song calls for it.
On bass guitar is Musicians Institute alumnus Ben Bradshaw, providing backbone and foundation, all while mixing in melodic leads and runs that only a player of his experience can muster. Drummer Kris Schoen’s ability to both drive the tunes and lay down a lazy snare for the slow groove furthers the dancing frenzy that ensues at a Statesboro Revue show.

The all-star list of shared stages more than hints that this all-inclusive working band is truly worth their weight. The Statesboro Revue has played with the The Allman Brothers Band, Marshall Tucker Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Whiskey Myers, Dirty River Boys, Willie Nelson, just to name a few.
All these established artists influenced THE STATESBORO REVUE however the band’s style is nourished by a wide range of genres / eras.

There’s so much musical talent in this band of young musicians, it almost seems unfair. But talent doesn’t create chemistry, or quality music for that matter. THE STATESBORO REVUE has it all, and it’s made very clear with “Statesboro Revue”.
This album is great on all levels, and will be appreciated by fans of timeless classic rock music and beyond. It goes without saying that it was more than worth the 9-year wait between CD’s.
