A year after revisiting / re-recording the key pieces of theirs repertoire, GLASS TIGER is back with original material. The iconic Canadian band had not written new songs since 1991, but here we have “Thirty Three 33”, the just released mini-album to mark the 33 years of existence of the formation, containing six new songs.
Few days ago, Glass Tiger premiere “Thirty Three 33” at the start of a Canada wide tour with Corey Hart as co-headliner.

“It’s been a while since we wanted to make a new album” said keyboardist Sam Reid. “We were already working on new equipment at this time. The invitation we received from touring with Corey Hart led us to launch “Thirty Three 33″. That was the spark behind the creation of this album. We wanted to get new material for this show”.

Glass Tiger took a break in 1993. Singer Alan Frew released two solo albums, but after several conversations, the band from Newmarket, Ontario, officially resumed operations in 2003.
The album ’31’, launched in the winter of 2018, saw the band re-recording 11 songs, with new sounds and guests such as Julian Lennon and Véronic DiCaire.

The songs in “Thirty Three 33” have been written over a long period and others are more recent. ‘Show Me (How to Get Close to the Sun)’ was started eight years ago, while ‘The Keepers of Time’ was written 2019. a few weeks before Glass Tiger entered the studio.
‘Ebb & Flow’, which opens the album, is a nod to the beginnings of Glass Tiger, with sounds a little more rocking.

“33” represents very well what we are right now. Not only as a group, but also as individuals. It still sounds like classic Glass Tiger, but with a maturity we did not have when we were in our twenties, and that we have acquired over the past 30 years” – said Reid.

Glass Tiger have a lot more songs ready, and there’s plans for a new album next year.
The songs in “Thirty Three 33” are unmistakable Glass Tiger, class and elegance, sweet melodies for the ear.
