Formed in Sweden in the ’80s, BAD HABIT is synonymous of quality Melodic Rock / AOR from Scandinavia. Still lead by guitarist / keyboardist / songwriter Hal Marabel – one of the finest melody makers in the world – BAD HABIT are back with their first album in 10 years: “Autonomy“, and they do it, as always, with style.
“Autonomy” is a great example on how a modern Melodic Rock album should be arranged, performed, produced & mixed: there’s layers of melodies thanks to old-school-like multi-track production concept, and incredible attention to detail for a 2021 recording.
So we have here a melodic rock / AOR album with the ‘classic era sonics’, and what about the songs? All are smooth, trademark BAD HABIT tunes with that Scandi ‘magic’ over ’em. And we love it.

If Marabel’s skills for writing a melodic tune wasn’t enough, Ulrick Lönnqvist (founder of SAHARA, CODE RED) co-penned four songs here adding an extra touch of quality to the album.
As said, all are wonderful songs, just some quick tips; opener ‘Retribution’ is the harder song on the CD with an Euro hard rock flavor, ‘I Reach For You’ is classic BAD HABIT poppy AOR, and ‘A Place in Your Heart’ is just a terrific midpaced AOR song with an awesome atmosphere.
‘Love Will The Way’ is pure ’80s, and just wait to hear the best chorus here on the catchy ‘Lost in You’.

You don’t need more; if you’re visiting this website you know what BAD HABIT is all about: quality guaranteed.
