The JEREMY EDGE Project – Saints and Souls Vol.1 & 2 (2023)
Vocalist / guitarist rocker Jeremy Edge is releasing a new double album ‘Saints and Souls Vol. 1 and 2’. After four top 50 Active Rock singles with the band Candlelight Red, Jeremy launched The JEREMY EDGE Project in 2020, making a departure stylistically with more blues-based, guitar-based rock.
After extensive gigging in 2021 including dates with Lita Ford, Jackyl, Randy Hansen, Derek St Holmes and Gary Hoey, Jeremy Edge and crew are back with this sophomore effort, being released in two volumes. The recording was more than a year in the making, taped and mixed in different locations and is in the spirit of the classic rock and blues albums that first inspired Jeremy to play.
The band features a guest appearance by Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Black Country Communion) playing keys, with select tracks mixed by Kevin “Caveman” Shirley (Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, Joe Bonamassa, etc).
One of the songs featuring Sherinian, ‘Move On’, pretty much sums up what both albums are all about. This is the kind of straight-ahead blues/rock song that will get you a speeding ticket. Edge walks tall on guitar and vocals, owning the track with his presence. His lead work is tuneful and bold and his rhythm playing is solidly in the pocket. Derek Sherinian drops in to rip some formidable organ licks, as well, which adds another strong instrumental element to the song.
Both Volumes have the same sonic approach, showcasing Edge’s innate ability to work around his fretboard with a blistering instrumental segue mixing blues-rock, classic rock and funky riffs, and his soulful singing as well. There is a groovy feel on all these tracks with a gracious vocal palette.
The theme of these Volumes is its balance. Edge has put together a composition of songs that seem to fit with timing and tempo.
The Jeremy Edge Project is a welcome introduction for this upcoming guitarist and his talented band. It is a refreshing take on bluesy classic rock with solid songwriting. Production is excellent and you can hear Shirley’s experienced hand here.
Edge clearly has his vision and sound together and is ready to rock the world with it.
