FLOATING WORLDS – Skywatcher (2024) *HQ*
The FLOATING WORLDS journey started in the late Nineties, a Greek based band who has released two albums so far, and are ready to present their third installment “Skywatcher” to the world. “Skywatcher” delivers a radical shift in sound & style for FLOATING WORLDS, previously quite progressive rock with some Savatage influences.
On “Skywatcher” FLOATING WORLDS seems a completely different band: take a look at the album cover: quite retro and ’80s influenced. Well, the music packed inside is very melodic, at places AOR / melodic rock, others Rock&pop, lyrically with a sci-fi concept reinforced by many synthwave sounds / arrangements.
“Skywatcher” tells a story, pretty dark by the way, based heavily on atmosphere and keyboards – there are electric guitars, real bass & drums, but at the service of the overall melodic sound, really well obtained thanks to the thoughtful production.
In “Skywatcher” Floating Worlds choose to sail in truly uncharted waters. They adopt a sound that has a lot in common with the 80s and 90s – and sounds good.
