JOHN SYKES – Bad Boy Live! (2004) *HQ*
And as requested, here’s the final (so far) JOHN SYKES album, the incendiary live record “Bad Boy Live!” captured in Japan, April 2004. Someone said that this CD shoulda been called ‘Screamin’ Blue Murder Vol II’, the impressive album we featured some weeks ago, as conceptually can be considered the sequel of that first killer recording from John.
And this is another ‘screamin’ live kick indeed. “Bad Boy Live!” recollects some of the greatest things John Sykes did in his music history from Thin Lizzy to Whitesnake to Blue Murder to Sykes-the band. This time John put together another helluva band: monsta Tommy Aldridge drums, Derek Sherinian on keys, and long-time partner Marco Mendoza on bass – an incredible tight unit.
The program is too short to really give a full picture of the whole history of the axeman and to give justice to an incredible songwriter / 360° performer, but anyway, this set kills. Fantastic songs from all his former bands (except Tygers Of Pan Tang actually) and own albums in a full shred devastating performance. The date is recorded very well and John and the guys gave all their best in front of an enthusiastic audience.
This album is a threat from the beginning to the end. An incredible energy will take you away like a full blowing tornado. John Sykes rules…
