Norwegian bass player JAN HOLBERG pleased us with his debut Sense Of Time some time ago featuring no other than legend Joe Lynn Turner on vocals.

Their association continued last year as Turner starred in Holberg’s documentary ‘Street Of Dreams’ aired in Norway’s National Television, telling the story of a musician getting his first real chance of a major breakthrough on tour with his favorite vocalist of all time (Turner), all surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of Norway.

Both are together again in Jan’s new album released today; “At Your Service”.

This new CD turns even more interesting than its predecessor as the Melodic Rock / AOR / Classic Rock inspired tunes penned by Holberg, this time apart from JLT, features ex- Rainbow Tony Carey contributing lead vocals and keyboards, and Wig Wam singer Åge Sten Nilsen also leads in 3 tracks.

As on the debut, “At Your Service” delivers carefully crafted songs covering varied styles as the funk-rockers “Waters Rising” and “21 Red”, Melodic Rock tunes in the catchy “When Push Comes To Shove” or “Battle Of Your Heart” and more classic rock numbers like the jumpin’ “Sensuality”.

“Jealousy And Pride” is a fantastic bluesy ballad featuring a soaring interpretation by Joe Lynn Turner, while Tony Carey adds his raspy vocals plus some vintage keyboards to the meaty classic rocker “Outta My Face”.

There’s also a charming instrumental, “I Still Remember”, where Holberg (as on the rest of the disc) plays with class helped, as on the debut, by the skilled musicians of the Iceland combo Mezzoforte.

“At Your Service” is another excellent release by this refined Norwegian musician which focuses his music in handcrafted sonic textures elaborated with the elegance of an artisan.

Holberg’s band is top notch and the guest vocalists are a real pleasure to listen as we can hear Turner, Carey and Nilsen singing different material than the usual expected from them.
