AUDREY HORNE – Devil’s Bell (2022)

Norway’s AUDREY HORNE have been releasing really consistent albums for almost two decades, mixing hard rock, classic metal and melody with class. Excellent songwriters and consummate players, the musicians in AUDREY HORNE are second to none.
Devil’s Bell” is yet another album full of songs that deserve to be heard by absolutely everybody, preferably at full blast through a car radio. This is classy stuff with the proper ‘atmosphere’. I mean, this recording is modern and vibrant, but overall seems recorded in the first half of the ’80s.
Take this example: third song “Break Out” is a lost track from Ozzy Osbourne’s Bark At The Moon sessions? Or the “Ashes to Ashes” burly riffing carrying the song isn’t like an old Armored Saint joint? Nope, it’s AUDREY HORNE 2022, and they ‘captured’ that vibe.
AUDREY HORNE are absolute masters of the audacious classic rock hybrid. These songs borrow from all manner of cherished sources — from Cheap Trick, Kiss and Van Halen, to Metallica, Iron Maiden and Ozzy — but the end result is always something else entirely…
