BLUE MURDER – Screaming Blue Murder: Dedicated To Phil Lynott [Japan SHM-CD]

BLUE MURDER was without a doubt one of the greatest hard rock acts ever. Of course we featured here their 2 first albums, but you need to complete the band’s discography with this Screaming Blue Murder: Dedicated To Phil Lynott, the band’s third and final release, initially issued only in Japan.
More like a John Sykes solo LP but released under the Blue Murder moniker, this recent Japanese version on SHM-CD is the one to get.
Recorded live – but believe me, it’s amazing – Sykes subtitled this CD ‘Dedicated to Phil Lynott’, so it’s no surprise that there are three Thin Lizzy classics in the playlist: Cold Sweat, Please Don’t Leave Me and Dancin’ in the Moonlight. As Sykes was the guitar player on Whitesnake’s 1987 too, Still of the Night is on here as well (killer version).
The remaining songs are six originals from both studio offerings of Blue Murder.

BLUE MURDER – Nothin’ But Trouble [Japan SHM-CD +1] *EXCLUSIVE*

BLUE MURDER‘s second album Nothin’ But Trouble was requested many times here, and finally we found the very hard to get Japan pressing on high quality SHM-CD, including a worthy bonus track.
This super-group took the world by storm in 1989 with their now classic self-titled debut. Following his exile from Whitesnake, all eyes were on guitar virtuoso John Sykes, whose previous credits also included work with Thin Lizzy and the Tygers Of Pan Tang.
People were eager to hear what Sykes would end up doing next, and he proved it in a big way, uniting with bassist Tony Franklin (The Firm) and drummer Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, King Kobra) to form Blue Murder.
Sykes handled vocal duties in the new group at the behest of music industry legend John Kalodner. Blue Murder debut album was a phenomenal release featuring classic after classic songs…

JOHN SYKES – Please Don’t Leave Me [Japan remastered SHM-CD]

Last May, Universal Music Japan has started a reissue series of classic albums on SHM-CD, remastered and with a very affordable price. One of these to get for sure is the much sought after “Please Don’t Leave Me” by the great JOHN SYKES.
Composed by future Whitesnake guitarist John Sykes, “Please Don’t Leave Me” was released as single under his name in 1982. The song features Thin Lizzy band members Phil Lynott on vocals and bass, Brian Downey on drums and Darren Wharton (later founder of Dare) on keyboards.
Ten years after of its original release and due to John Sykes’ fame with Whitesnake and Blue Murder, “Please Don’t Leave Me” was re-released in 1992, this time in the form of a compilation album that included a selection of non-album studio and live tracks from Sykes’ tenure with Tygers Of Pan Tang…

BLUE MURDER – Blue Murder [Rock Candy remastered]

BLUE MURDER self-titled album not only it’s one of the best appeared in glorious year 1989, but also one of the best remasters ever done by Rock Candy Records specialists.
Founded by superb guitarist John Sykes in 1988 after being fired from Whitesnake by David Coverdale, Sykes took the reins of his destiny in his hands. He returned home to England, where his mother and stepfather have a studio in Blackpool.
Sykes decided to scrap his search for a vocalist and handle the vocal duties himself, completing the band with two terrific cats; Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, King Kobra) on drums and Tony Franklin (The Firm, Whitesnake) on bass.
The album that Sykes, Appice and Franklin recorded is nothing less than spectacular.
Taking his guitar playing a step beyond his work with Whitesnake, Sykes produced edgy, fluid and explosive guitar rhythms. His solo work on the record is awe inspiring. No one can miss the legato phrasing and vibrato of John Sykes…
