CHICK CHURCHILL (feat. Cozy Powell, Bernie Marsden) – You & Me [remastered reissue]

This one is for old-school rockers, lovers of the Seventies sound when rock music was immediate, from the guts, when artists as soon got the songs written, as soon entered into the studio.
You & Me” is the 1973 album from British musician CHICK CHURCHILL, which included among the session musicians the great Cozy Powell on drums, future Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden, Supertramp leader Roger Hodgson on bass & guitar, and other talented musicians.
Real name Michael George Churchill wasn’t unknown at the time of this recording: a classically-trained pianist best-known as on/off keyboard man with Ten Years After, possibly the archetypal British blues/rock band, featuring Alvin Lee’s lightning-fast guitar work.
Musically “You & Me” goes from hard rock to pop-rock to progressive, all with melody and interesting arrangements. An unfairly forgotten gem from the British early Seventies scene which needed a CD edition, done by a Swedish label…

COZY POWELL – Octopuss [Korean Edition remastered]

It has been requested classic COZY POWELL albums in the best sound quality possible. “Octopuss“, the third Cozy solo album has been reissued in Japan remastered an pressed on SHM-CD. But we’re more than happy with this [rare] Korean pressing which uses the same master (which sounds huge) and has an excellent disc manufacturing too.
Again with likes of Gary Moore, Mel Galley, Don Airey and for the first time legendary Jon Lord, “Octopuss” is a new tour-de-force for Powell & Co.
Perhaps not his best album in terms of songwriting, but in our opinion, “Octopuss” is where Powell’s drumming skills is better captured into to. Just listen to ‘The Rattler’ (co-written with David Coverdale).
Killer.

COZY POWELL – Tilt [Korean Edition remastered]

It has been requested classic COZY POWELL albums in the best sound quality possible. “Tilt“, the second Cozy solo album has been reissued in Japan remastered an pressed on SHM-CD. Bu we’re more than happy with this Korean pressing which uses the same master and has an excellent disc manufacturing too.
”Tilt” features musical assistance from Jeff Beck, Don Airey, Bernie Marsden, Gary Moore and great vocals by Elmer Gantry (Alan Parsons) among other luminaries. Considered to be one of England’s best drummers, Cozy Powell was legendary for a heavy-hitting style that could be made to work with many styles of music, which are addressed here…

COZY POWELL – Over The Top [Universal Japan Hard & Heavy series]

It has been requested classic COZY POWELL albums in the best sound quality possible. “Over The Top“, the first Cozy solo album has been reissued in Japan on SHM-CD. We don’t have it, but don’t need it either: this ‘Universal Japan Hard & Heavy series’ from 2007 uses the same remaster and it sounds fabulous.
This is a Nineties remastering – the only available for this album – and perfectly fits to this recording: this is a late Seventies album and this type of ‘quiet’ remaster preserves the original harmonics.
The pristine sound quality from this Japanese CD is clearly noticeable against the other pressings we heard.
With Gary Moore, Bernie Marsden, and Don Airey among the musicians surrounding Cozy on this album, you only can expect superb musicianship.
