A return to his blues roots, “Still Got The Blues” is the most successful album both in sales and chart positions from Gary Moore in the US.
Relieved from the pressures of having to record a hit single, Gary Moore cuts loose on some blues standards as well as some newer material here. Moore plays better than ever, spitting out an endless stream of fiery licks that are both technically impressive and soulful.
I believe Gary Moore was the first hard rock guitarist to cross over to blues by dedicating a full CD to the genre. There have been a string of “heavy blues” records produced by predominantly rock guitarists since the release of “Still Got The Blues”, so I think Gary set a standard in this area that has yet to be equaled…

“Run For Cover” is often considered as Gary Moore’s breakthrough album, and his more glossy / melodic produced. It features as well, monster vocal contributions by legends Glenn Hughes and Phil Lynott.
Indeed, checking the credits, you’ll see no less than four big name producers were employed in the making of “Run For Cover”: Mike Stone (Journey, Whitesnake), Peter Collins (Bon Jovi, Queensryche), Andy Johns (All!) and Beau Hill (Ratt, Winger), with each playing to their strengths.
Parping ’80s keyboards are present and correct but not obnoxiously so and complement songs like ‘Once In A Lifetime’, the excellent title track and the awesome ‘Out In The Fields’. The choice of vocal wonder Glenn Hughes, to guest on four of the tracks, works really well. His, for once, understated delivery meshes really well with Gary’s voice.

Continuing Gary Moore’s path in the hard rock genre started as solo artist a couple years before (after his excellent work with Thin Lizzy) “Victims of the Future” was a collection of straight-out rocking anthems such as “Teenage Idol” and “Hold on to Love”, a mournful love ballad (“Empty Rooms”), a killer cover of The Yardbirds’ “Shapes of Things”, and two darker songs with some social and political commentary: the title track and the heavy “Murder in the Skies”, a protest against the Soviet Union’s shooting down of Korean Air Flight 007.
The bonus tracks included in this remastered reissue are great as well: “Devil In Her Heart” is a heavy number worthy of standing alongside “Murder in the Skies” plenty of fire and full-blooded guitar work, “Blinder” is a great instrumental showcasing emotional inspiration, and “Empty Rooms 1984 Remix” is the AORish version of Gary’s more popular song from the mid-80s…

“Corridors Of Power” was the first of Irish guitar virtuoso Gary Moore’s true metal / hard rock albums. Featuring the same terrific rhythm section of Whitesnake at the time – Neil Murray on bass & ex-Deep Purple Ian Paice on drums – and produced by the highly requested Jeff Glixman, “Corridors Of Power” impressed the Rock community when appeared.
Boasting a crisp, aggressive sound, “Corridors Of Power” kicks off with the foot-stomping ‘Don’t Take Me for a Loser’, which is almost more Whitesnake than Whitesnake with the driving rhythm section and catchy hook. Gary’s lead vocals are fierce and fits the song greatly, yet with a more polished or dare I say ‘full-time’ vocalist (Coverdale perhaps?) it could probably have made the singles chart…

Some days ago we featured here in exclusive the quite unknown GARY MOORE short-lived band G-Force album remastered and pressed on SHM-CD. Now we have a show recorded during the tour presenting the album, “Live At The Marquee“, captured at the legendary Marquee Club in London on November 5th & 6th, 1980.
For the shows Moore enlisted former LONE STAR frontman Kenny Driscoll to provide lead vocals (Driscoll’s replacement in Lone Star, John Sloman, would later perform with Moore), Andy Pyle of THE KINKS to play bass, former Black Oak Arkansas and PAT TRAVERS drummer Tommy Aldridge, and Moore’s former COLOSSEUM II bandmate, keyboardist Don Airey, who would go on to contribute to many of Moore’s later solo works.
The performance mainly showcases material from Moore’s 1979 Back On The Streets and the G-Force albums, with two songs being from Dirty Fingers, and the remaining track, “Dallas Warhead” being an original composition, which incorporates a killer, awesome drum solo from Aldridge.

Finally, one of rarest – and best – albums by GARY MOORE, “Dirty Fingers“, received a proper reissue by Victor Japan Company with a K2HD remastering on a HQCD. There were several attempts to get a fully sound from this recording, even previously appeared on SHM-CD, but somehow due to master copies / transfer troubles the dynamic range resulted plain flat.
This K2HD remastering makes wonders, unfortunately a limited release already sold out.
“Dirty Fingers” was actually recorded in 1981 for Jet Records but was shelved for years, only to be released in later in Japan in 1983 after Gary Moore began to gain some popularity.
One of the interesting things about this album is that features an all-star band which aside from Gary, also included ex-Ted Nugent vocalist Charlie Huhn, Rainbow / Dio bassist Jimmy Bain, keyboard master Don Airey, and monster drummer Tommy Aldridge.

“Out In The Fields: The Very Best of Gary Moore” is a compilation of the late, exceptional guitarist / vocalist GARY MOORE. Released in 1998 the album encompasses a part of Moore’s immense career from 1982 to 1994.
There was as well a Limited Edition featuring a Bonus Disc released at the same time containing outtakes from various gigs, two B-sides and one remixed track.
But Universal Music Japan have gone even further: with the advent of new high quality audio technology, they have reissued “Out In The Fields: The Very Best of Gary Moore 2-disc Limited Edition” on a double SHM-CD and added a bonus track. Additionally, some tracks are not the same mix.

We always need ‘more Moore‘ and as requested here’s GARY MOORE‘s only album with G-FORCE and its self-titled record remastered & reissued in Japan on miniLP replica and pressed on high quality SHM-CD.
While touring America with THIN LIZZY in support of the band’s album ‘Black Rose: A Rock Legend’, Gary Moore suddenly quit the band and moved to Los Angeles, hoping to establish a solo rock presence.
With the opportunity to tour America in support of Van Halen, Moore recruited his one-time Thin Lizzy bandmate, drummer Mark Nauseef (ex IAN GILLIAN BAND), and vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes, dubbing the band “G-Force”. Several months into rehearsals, Hughes left the band after an alcohol-fueled altercation with Moore and was replaced with vocalist Willie Dee and session bassist Tony Newton.

The album has been remastered by Rock Candy as well – excellent sound – posted at 0dayrox some time ago, so you can compare both versions.
“Back On The Streets” is best known for one of Gary Moore’s milestones, the song “Parisienne Walkways” which reached the UK Top 10 single charts and features Phil Lynott. The album also includes a hot cover of Thin Lizzy’s “Don’t Believe A Word”.
