PAUL DiANNO’s BATTLEZONE – Killers In The Battlezone 1986-2000 [Cherry Red 3CD remasters] (2022)

Hear No Evil / Cherry Red Records are releasing “Killers In The Battlezone 1986-2000“, 3CD Box Set of PAUL DiANNO’s BATTLEZONE including three classic albums from NWOBHM stalwart and former Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di’Anno.
The Box includes his two mid-80s albums as Battlezone where DiAnno was joined by Tokyo Blade’s John Wiggins; “Fighting Back (1986)”, and “Children Of Madness (1987)”, plus a disc with his later band Killers, caught live in 2000. All digitally remastered.
Battlezone came about when Di’Anno joined forces with Tokyo Blade’s John Wiggins plus John Hurley from Deep Machine, both on lead guitar, with the line-up completed by Peter West on bass and Bob Falck on drums. Signing to Powerstation Records, they released ‘Fighting Back’ in 1986, produced with Ian Richardson. Then in 1987 they released ‘Children Of Madness’.
This “Killers In The Battlezone 1986-2000” is are a really welcomed release, as we have both ’80s albums remastered with a potent sound plus some hard to find bonus tracks…

IRON MAIDEN – Maiden Japan (2021 Remaster)

Disillusioned by the quality of the Nineties remasters of the IRON MAIDEN catalog, in 2015 founder Steve Harris decided it was time to re-do the whole thing from the original analog tapes (where applicable) with modern techniques.
The results were fantastic, with all Maiden albums sounding as should in this digital era. But a little one was missing… the legendary “Maiden Japan” EP! Well, it took some time, but finally today November 15 Rhino Records is releasing “Maiden Japan (2021 Remaster)“.
While this is a live recording, you still can improve things from the analog source. With this fresh 2021 remaster the punch of Harris’ signature bass playing is back, loud and clear. The guitars are a bit more defined, and Paul’s vocals come thru pretty good clearer as well.
At this time and age “Maiden Japan” is a classic, a testimony of a band at the verge of excellence. And now you can crank it to 11 without distortion, properly remastered for this modern age.

IRON MAIDEN – Senjutsu (2021)

Metal legends IRON MAIDEN make a stunning surprise return with their 17 th studio album “Senjutsu“, to be released next Friday. And 2021 finds Maiden as doggedly ambitious as they were when they stormed onto the scene in the mid-70s.
“Senjutsu” is an electrifying, cinematic masterpiece, its imagery built around Japan’s pre-modern Samurai era and clocking in at 82 minutes – their second double album. Perhaps it’s the guys’ advancing age or the strange times in which we all find ourselves, but ”Senjutsu” is the band’s most emotionally compelling work, not just of the post-reunion era, but of all time.
One listen isn’t enough; with successive spins, ”Senjutsu” continues to reveal its astonishing depth and a wealth of melodic treasures that will see it easily claim its place alongside the finest works of their canon.
An unqualified masterpiece.

IRON MAIDEN – The Writing On The Wall (2021)

The rumours were true. After weeks of speculation, conspiracy theories and breadcrumb-following dominating Metal Twitter, IRON MAIDEN have officially unleashed their first piece of brand new music in six years: ”The Writing On The Wall”.
Maiden have decided to pull out all the stops for their new single, accompanying it with a blockbuster, retinal-searing animated video featuring a ton of colourful characters, buckets of symbolism and, most excitingly of all, a brand new Eddie.
The song itself – a composition by Adrian Smith and Bruce Dickinson – is a big departure from the majority of Maiden’s post-2000 lead singles. Starting off as an acoustic jaunt that morphs into a mid-paced, stomping, outlaw rocker…

IRON MAIDEN – Nights of the Dead, Legacy of the Beast: Live in Mexico City (2020)

IRON MAIDEN have a thing for live albums. Officially, there are now 16 official live documents of ’Arry’s Ammers available, 13 of them full albums. One of them, Live After Death, rates among the band’s finest work, capturing their imperious power at the height of their ‘80s dominance. Others, like Maiden Japan and The BBC Archives collection, act as something of a history lesson from the Paul Di’Anno-fronted early era of the band.
Largely and most importantly, though, Maiden live albums have become specific postcards of specific events. Live at Donington celebrated their triumphant return to headline that hallowed stage for the second time. Rock In Rio was the triumphant hanging of a hat on the band’s millennial rejuvenation as Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith returned to the fold.
In this “Nights of the Dead, Legacy of the Beast: Live in Mexico City“, Maiden not only give fans the chance to own a bit of these shows (events in themselves), but they also flex their unwavering confidence in what they are doing right now.
