SNEAKER – Sneaker ’81 [BlueSpec-CD Cool Sound Japan remastered +4]

The L.A. based band Sneaker took their name from Steely Dan’s tune ‘Bad Sneaker’, no wonder then their music was influenced by Donald Fagen and Co., but also many other acts of that time, at places similar to Frankie & The Knockouts or Ambrosia, just to name a few.
Signed by the little label Handshake, their self-titled debut is a lovely amalgam of classy WestCoast and AOR, considered as a ‘cult classic’ by many lovers of the genre.
As requested, here’s SNEAKER‘s first studio album 1981’s ”Sneaker”, finely remastered by Japanese label Cool Sound, pressed on high quality BluSpec-CD and including 4 previously unreleased tracks as bonus.

SNEAKER – Loose In The World ’82 [Cool Sound Japan remastered +4]

As requested, here’s SNEAKER second and final studio album, 1982’s ”Loose In The World” in its Japanese reissue by Cool Sound label for the first time on CD and finely remastered, including 4 previously unreleased tracks as bonus.
Following the success and radio airplay of their debut album, Sneaker released their second album “Loose In The World” in 1982 again produced by Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter. Unfortunately, Handshake Records that released both albums filed for bankruptcy while the band was in a Japan tour promoting “Loose In The World” in the autumn of 1982. Thus, Sneaker found themselves lacking of label support, the new album without distribution and naturally… Sneaker disbanded.
A shame, as “Loose In The World” is a very good melodic LP with a lot of radio potential – even more that the debut – with that 1982’s sweet production sound…

SNEAKER – Early On [Unreleased Songs / Cool Sound Japan only release]

As requested, here’s the Japan only release compilation made by Cool Sound Records of SNEAKER previously unreleased recordings remastered and compiled on CD under the title “Early On“.
This is a worthy collection of Sneaker’s early years rare materials recorded between 1977-1983; demos for the self-titled debut album and unreleased songs selected by Toshi Nakada, mastermind specialist at Cool Sound, Japan.
The best 12 songs out of 23 were selected from the tapes. We find very strong songs that never had the chance to be included into Sneaker’s debut, nor the second LP. Also, the closing track “Without Your Love” was the last song the band recorded before they split in 1983.
Very good stuff deserving to be heard…
