L.A. GUNS – Checkered Past (2021)

Sunset Strip legends L.A. GUNS are ready to release of their new studio album, “Checkered Past“, via Frontiers Music. Written and recorded while the world was still in the grips of the Covid-19 pandemic, the new studio album sees Tracii Guns, Phil Lewis, and company continuing with the darker lyrical tone of the preceding studio albums while incorporating their classic hard rock influences into the mix.
Heavier songs are mixed with bluesier, boogie inducing tracks and dark, introspective ballads, often harkening back to the first three albums the band made, but also pushing the band forward.
When fans absorb the album as a whole, they’ll see that the tracklisting is divided up into ‘sets’ or ‘suites’, where a sonic style is explored across multiple songs before moving on to the next, making for a very interesting listening experience…

SUNBOMB – Evil And Divine (2021)

SUNBOMB is a highly anticipated new musical alliance between two steadfast warriors of the U.S. hard rock/metal scene, Tracii Guns and Stryper vocalist Michael Sweet. They have put together an absolute blinder of a metal album, melding influences of classic acts such as Black Sabbath and Judas Priest with Tracii’s love of metal subgenres.
Drums on the album were handled by Tracii’s old L.A. Guns bandmate Adam Hamilton and bass was handled by Mitch Davis, with the exception of the track ‘They Fought’, which features current L.A. Guns bassist Johnny Martin.
The music style on the record is much heavier than what one would expect from these two musicians and is firmly planted in the ‘metal’ category.
While Tracii wrote the music for the album, the fact that Michael Sweet has been writing in an increasingly heavier style on latter era Stryper albums made him a very logical choice to sing for the band.
