VICIOUS RUMORS – Digital Dictator [remastered Digipak] *HQ*

As requested, here’s one of the most influential records from the ’80s American Metal scene; VICIOUS RUMORS “Digital Dictator” in its remastered reissue done by original label Shrapnel Records on a deluxe Digipak appeared some years ago.
Originally released in 1987, ”Digital Dictator” was the year’s No. 1 album in one of Europe’s top metal magazines, RockHard. The album sold well in Japan, the US, and the rest of Europe, with the band performing at all major festivals.
While for this second VICIOUS RUMORS LP stellar guitarist Vinnie Moore already left the band, you do not miss him at all as mastermind guitarist Geoff Thorpe and powerhouse vocalist Carl Albert (RIP) put together an album that came to define the Vicious Rumors sound.
“Digital Dictator” is a classic American Metal album, highly influential for many acts at both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. If you never heard it, or metallic rock is not your type of thing, give it a chance, this baby seriously Rocks.
If you already love it and have the lovely original LP version, this remastered Digipak is pure gold: the sound quality is awesome.

VINNIE MOORE – Aerial Visions (2015)

I couldn’t resist; instrumental guitar albums are hard to see (and sell) pieces nowadays, but when noticed about VINNIE MOORE‘s new solo CD “Aerial Visions” I gotta listen to it. And glad I did it. Vinnie Moore belongs to the golden generation of shred guitarists from the ’80s. It has been the times when Shrapnel Records brought quite some of...

VICIOUS RUMORS – Vicious Rumors [Rock Candy remaster] (2015)

As requested, here’s another band that should have been far more successful than they were is rescued by Rock Candy specialists with a superb remastering of their self-titled debut: VICIOUS RUMORS.
Californians Vicious Rumors started out on the Shrapnel / Roadrunner imprint before landing a major label deal with Atlantic (resulting in two studio albums and a live). Though their second album Digital Dictator had been excellent, this 1990’s “Vicious Rumors” effort was simply fantastic, the very peak of the band’s career.
I can see why Rock Candy has decided to remaster “Vicious Rumors” (they usually work with Melodic Hard Rock acts): despite of being and album firmly planted into US Metal style, it’s extremely melodic, catchy, and sonically bombastic.
Yes, melodic rockers & traditional hard rock fans need to listen to this CD. If you’ve ever wanted to check this band out, or never heard about them, start here. You won’t be disappointed…
