C.T.P Christian Tolle Project - The Higher They Climb (2012)

German born Christian Tolle is a respected musician involved in many bands such as Cooper Inc., Underdog, Lehmann, and done studio sessions with the likes of AOR, Bangalore Choir and more.
Besides, the man has his own band, the Christian Tolle Project.
C.T.P’s released two albums during the past decade, featuring international guests like Steve Lukather, Michael Thompson, Doug Aldrich or Tim Pierce, with excellent reviews and feedback from the press, media and the AOR / MR community.

2012 will be the year of C.T.P again: the brand new and third release “The Higher They Climb”.
Christian and expert Michael Voss co-produced 12 tracks between summer and winter 2011. The result is nothing short of stunning Melodic Rock, this time more rockin’ oriented than the previous albums.
Performed with an incredible amount of energy the album contains a powerful mixture of hard hitting songs and catchy melodic hooklines, great guitar work and some of the best voices in the genre contributing.

David Reece (Bangalore Choir) sings with his trademark raspy throat the classic hard rockers “The Price of Love”, “That’s My Name”, “Out of My Head” and the stomping “Love is Fire”.
Leon Goewie (Vengeance) does a very nice job on the intense title track “The Higher They Climb” and the Americanized “In and Outta Love”.
The we have the stainless Paul Shortino (King Kobra, Ex-Quiet Riot, Rough Cutt) on the melodic hard rocker “Too Young” and the British sounding “Dreamchild”, both really good songs,
Tolle has reserved the Melodic Rock tracks to Michael Voss (Michael Schenker, Casanova, Mad Max), as his vocal color is special to the great melody line of “Blue Butterfly Day” and the balladry of “Roll On”, while “Half That Man” has a catchy modern Euro Melodic Rock style, one of the best tunes of the CD.

“The Higher They Climb” is a consistent and hooky Melodic Hard Rock album, very well recorded and produced, with a ‘classic rock’ warm feel.
The list of vocalists is impressive, all delivering great performances. Christian also invited a few of his six-string friends to join as guests: L.A. guitar wizard / maestro Michael Landau, Ben Granfelt (Ex-Wishbone Ash), Andy Susemihl and Morris Adriaens have contributed a guitar solo on one track each, giving the record a special flavour.
In summary you can put it this way: C.T.P “The Higher They Climb” delivers lovable tunes, energy, melody, no fillers – just good songs.
