Some months ago we presented here the impressive debut EP from FATE’S RIGHT BAND, now the Swedes return with another slab of kick-ass Melodic Hard Rock in the form of their fresh EP “Smile“.
Fate’s Right Band is the dream come true of brothers Marko (bass) and Jari Aalto (guitar) as they always wanted to create a rocking band with international projection. The Aalto brothers joined forces with Jonas Andersson (drums) and lead axe-man Jens Mann, starting an intensive period of heavy-duty songwriting five years ago.
In the beginning of 2013 Jonny Lindkvist, a well respected singer in Scandinavia (Nocturnal Rites among others) joined the group and Fate’s Right Band was formed.
Now, 2015, Fate’s Right Band are in full force presenting their second batch of songs with “Smile”.
The new EP, as its predecessor, packs a bunch of massive rockers resembling Americans Y&T (Dave Meniketti) on the pumping “My World Is Falling”, Doug Aldrich’s Burning Rain in the groovy “Black Heart Of Stone” or the underrated XYZ in catchy title track “Smile”.
We have more European melodic hard rock influences in the atmospheric “We Can Fake It” (some Bonfire in it), while “I Wasn’t Ready” sounds unmistakably Swedish.
Honestly, I can’t get it why Fate’s Right Band are not signed by a big label (Frontiers take notice), this guys are huge and deserve major exposure.
The band sounds incredibly tight & oiled in “Smile”, and the self-management issues, production is first class. Indeed, everything comes out bright and punchy, with a mix that put some major acts into shame. These guys are really, really good: biting guitars, pumping bass lines, bouncy drumming and awesome vocals. Yeah, Jonny Lindkvist is a revelation, this man is monster behind the mic.
Don’t be fooled by the silly cover artwork, you need to check Fate’s Right Band immediately… and if you missed their first EP, you better grab it as well NOW (here).
