MAGIC DANCE – Kiss Scene EP + The Flight Away (2015)

Many of you seem to have falling in love with the recent MAGIC DANCE posts here, asking for more. Here it the other EP released last year by this project commanded by retrowave / synthwave fan New Yorker Jon Siejka aka Magic Dance, titled “Kiss Scene”.

As you could suspect with a title “Kiss Scene”, the material here is inspired by ’80s movies, soundtrack music from that era specifically.
Combining electronic-generated sounds with more traditional instruments, ’80s inspired synthesis and dulcet vocals, Siejka crafts songs that are refreshingly new and comfortably familiar.
With inspiration drawn from the music of cult TV shows like Baywatch or Knight-Rider to classic ’80s movie soundtracks, synthpop and heart-wrenching ballads, its incredibly difficult to not love Magic Dance once you get a taste of him.
While the music here is more poppy oriented than the other Magic Dance works, all is really enjoyable.

With “Kiss Scene” we complete the Magic Dance all releases, but wait, there’s more.
Jon Siejka also fronted another project named THE FLIGHT AWAY, which has officially concluded last year as he wanted to concentrate full-time in Magic Dance.

The Flight Away was a musical venture by Siejka of what is called ‘synthwave chipmusic’: music created utilizing the chipsets from vintage video game and computing systems through both hardware & software. Examples of hardware include the Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Sega Genesis, Commodore 64 and Amiga.
Chiptune is essentially an instrument and /or a medium, used to create all styles and genres imaginable.
Of course The Flight Away material is focused in ’80s culture, not far away from what Siejka created in Magic Dance. So you’ll enjoy it aplenty.

With every track from Magic Dance and The Flight Away, Jon Siejka transports you to the era when music was fun, had melody and you wanted to dance without being a guilty pleasure.
