SECRET SPHERE – One Night In Tokyo (2016)
While ‘big in Japan’, Italians SECRET SPHERE are not widely-known. Frontiers Music are releasing “One Night In Tokyo” to bring to the forefront this talented band showcasing some kind of their ‘greatest hits’ live.
Armed with excellent vocalist Michele Luppi, this album helps expand their feverish fanbase in Japan to the rest of the world. Luppi indeed pushes the envelope on the vocal power that he holds. When not doing the SECRET SPHERE stuff, he is the keyboardist in world-wide touring legends Whitesnake.
During the band’s last Japanese tour, in support of the special anniversary edition of the band’s ‘A Time Never Come’ album, Secret Sphere had the chance to record their show in Tokyo in its entirety.
For starters, Secret Sphere gives you that European prog vibe with a melodic sheen, great vocals and powerful musicianship.
There’s something for everyone here, from technically played songs plenty of sensible melodic patterns and smartly structured verses, to groovy rockers to emotional beautiful ballads, all wrapped by an outstanding vocal performance.
“One Night In Tokyo” is such a great recording and there isn’t anything in it that is filler. All are really strong compositions and the band feels terrific as unit. There’s an enthusiastic audience as well as an authentic and well-balanced sound.
As bonus, we have a new studio track, the strong ‘Lie To Me’ featuring a duet with Anette Olzon (ex Alyson Avenue, Nightwish).
