SECRET SPHERE – The Nature Of Time (2017)
Released via Frontiers Music tomorrow, “The Nature Of Time” is SECRET SPHERE‘s ninth studio album and celebrates 20 years of hard work that started back with their widely praised debut album.
Since then, the band has evolved and developed their unique sound that has become a trademark in the metal / hard rock scene.
The addition of extraordinary singer Michele Luppi (also currently serving as keyboardist / background vocalist for the legend Whitesnake) in 2012 brought the band to the next level. This was evidenced by his first release with them, ‘Portrait Of A Dying Heart’, receiving wide fan and critical acclaim and landing on many metal journalists ‘best of list’ of 2012.
Now this new album “The Nature Of Time” proves to be the ultimate showcase of the band’s skill in composing highly orchestrated songs and introducing their foray into a new age of heavy rock and metal music.
Lyrically the record explores the “back to life” concept, an inward looking search of the self that can positively impact everyone’s everyday life.
But what does it for me it’s the music, and Secret Sphere are awesome at the instrumentation & arrangements.
The short instrumental ‘Intermission’ serves as intro for ‘The Calling’, one of the highlights and one hell of a track plenty of fire and precise playing. This Secret Sphere 2017 may have some new personnel in the line-up, but I assure you they sound better than never and much more focused.
This band merge genres like few in the current scene, and you have a hard rock groove in ‘Honesty’, and later a progressive, wisely composed number in ‘Commitment’ including some effective orchestration. There’s also a a meaty ballad with ‘Love’, showcasing a great work by Luppi both vocally and with keyboards.
The last two cuts are among the best: the terrific ‘The Awakening’ mixing rocking riffs, soaring vocals and Dream Theater-esque virtuosity, and the exquisite midtempo ‘The New Beginning’.
High class songs with amazing choruses, big vocals, majestic orchestral arrangements, and mind-blowing guitar heroics are the order of the day on Secret Sphere’s “The Nature Of Time”.
I know many of you never heard about this terrific band: this is your chance to discover a fan-damn-tastic group which delivers first class music with potential appeal to fans from all rock-related genres.
