Lars Eric Mattsson’s VISION – Live + (2017)

Lion Music has started a reissue campaign of all Lars Eric Mattsson’s VISION albums, the band the Swedish guitarist started in the early ’90s. We already featured the first 2, now it’s time for “Live +“, including previously unreleased material, half live / half studio.

The first Lars Eric Mattsson’s VISION album did very well in Japan and 3 videos were made. In 1993 the band was recording the follow up of that previous year’s successful debut while their record label was sinking like a stone without informing their artists.
They stalled the release by asking for more and different tracks time after time because they could not afford the advance payment. And then finally the label was bankrupt.
The album was already completed but never released until this 2017 (titled Vision II and featured on this blog HERE.

More studio tracks (5) from that second album sessions are included here on “Live +”.
By the time bass player Micke Ahlskog had already left the band and was first replaced by Sören Lund, and then finally by Örjan Sjöström who also played keyboards on these sessions. Future Amaze Me vocalist Conny Lind is still at the mic, and he sounds a lot like Goran Edman.
Musically the material follows the same path of Vison I; this is a mix of Scandinavian classic melodic hard rock with AOR touches in the vein of Talisman, Europe, Goran Edman’s Madison, etc.

As the CD title suggests, “Live +” includes 5 tracks recorded live in 1992, during Lars Eric Mattsson’s Vision successful tours. All are songs from the band’s debut album performed with a slightly rawer delivery but taped with a fine sound.
Kudos to Lion Music for releasing Lars Eric Mattsson’s Vision previously unheard material.
