Requested by one of you, here’s the two really good albums by American rockers LOVE AFFAIR, for the first time appeared on CD. Their self-titled debut “Love Affair” was released nationally, and had the radio hit single ‘Mama Sez’.

Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Love Affair was founded in the second half of the Seventies, and toured all the US East Coast and Canada. The group amassed a strong fan base, who were claiming the recording of an album.
The band’s financial independence allowed them to elect to hire a producer and a studio of their choosing. The plan was to sell a finished product to a major label – a totally brash move for a little band from Cleveland.

By June of 1980, Love Affair was a recording act, with their debut album being released on Radio Records (distributed all over the U.S. by Atlantic Records).
As said, the single ‘Mama Sez’ did very well at Rock radio, a rocking and infectious, certainly worthy of material by bands the Cleveland quintet held in high esteem – such as The Sweet, Queen, and the like.

All over “Love Affair” I also hear a sound and style similar to Chilliwack, Starz, Easy Street Band, Legs Diamond or even Giuffria’s Angel (“On Earth As It Is In Heaven” era).
Songs like ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and ‘I Can’t Let Go’ still sound fresh today, ‘Touch Me’ adds a hard rock riff and really fine layered harmony vocals, while the very melodic ‘Seventeen (You’re A Star)’ has some early REO Speedwagon on it.

LOVE AFFAIR - Love Affair [Remastered / First Time on CD] back

During the early 80s a handful of bands dominated the Ohio rock scene, namely Michael Stanley Band, The Godz , Easy Street Band, Rosie and Love Affair.
This Love Affair’s debut “Love Affair” was very well produced – above the bar for an indie when recorded, still unsigned – and this reissue on CD give us the chance to appreciate this really fine US melodic rock / radio ready collection of tunes with that classic early ’80s American sound.
Hard to find and quite expensive CD (around U$D 200).
