AXXIS – 30th Anniversary ; Best Of EMI Years (2019)

There’s no doubt that since their origins Germans AXXIS helped to spread the true melodic metal flag all over the world. The band, celebrating its 30th anniversary was recently on tour with a setlist build on the first four Axxis albums and the birthday party’s going on.

st renowned material when they were part of the major label roster.

The band’s classics like ‘Living in a World’ (I love this song), ‘Fire & Ive’ or ‘Ships are Sailing’ are part of this very good re-recording release, done with the 2019 Axxis line-up / updated sound yet still retaining the style that make them known for.
Even some tracks sound better than the originals, more polished and with refined arrangements from a band that honed their game with all the years of experience.

As in the beginning of Axxis, the band is still in great shape and form. All the song here are timeless hymns and seeing Bernhard Weiss & band on stage even amplifies the positive impression and underlines their role in German Rock and Metal.

If you’re new to Axxis, “Best Of EMI Years ; 30th Anniversary” is the perfect release to start, and if you’re familiar with the Germans a great listen to re-discover these timeless melodic metal / traditional hard rock tunes.
